Bergen Youth Orchestras (BYO), the oldest youth orchestra in northern New Jersey, is looking for new talent for the upcoming season within its three distinct performance sections: Junior Strings, Philharmonia and Symphony. The program is looking for strings, oboe, bassoon, brass and timpani.

Auditions will be held August 24, 25, 26, 30 and 31 as well as September 1, 2 and 7 at St. Paul’s Church located at 113 Engle Street in Englewood. N.J. Students who play strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion may audition by appointment only.

“We hope to find a plethora of talented musicians to accompany our already exceptional ensemble,” said Eugene Minor, Music Director of the Bergen Youth Orchestras. “It is a great opportunity for new talent to thrive in a nurturing environment so their talents and repertoires can continue to grow.”

The Bergen Youth Orchestras, based in Englewood, N.J., was founded in 1968 and prides itself on allowing capable students the ability to work in a professional environment. The non-profit orchestras are dedicated to providing young musicians with exceptional training and the opportunity to perform diverse orchestral literature. Students are exposed to music that is both energetic and artistically distinguished.

Students must bring a prepared piece of their choice with them to the audition. They will also be asked to play scales chosen by the auditions’ adjudicators and to perform a short sight reading.
