Casting Call for Actors

16 November, 2010 (05:00) | Student Film | By: free audition listings

La Mia Famiglia
Casting notice posted on auditionsfree.com, casting location: The School of Visual Arts
My name is Nina LoSchiavo and I am currently a student studying Graphic Design at the School of Visual Arts. This coming winter (Feb. 2010), I am working closely with Bob Giraldi (my executive producer) on a short film. The film is a comedy about an 18 year old boy coming out in a Brooklyn Italian family. I am seeking actors for 6 of the characters in the film

1) MAIN CHARACTER – John, 18-22, male, Caucasian, must look Italian. Will portray a gay male but is very discrete about his sexuality. His role is mainly screen presence, i.e. he doesn’t have a lot of lines.

2.) Anthony Jr., 20-24, male, Caucasian, must look Italian. Will portray a straight male, with a fairly decent build. He is supposed to be a football player. He is a jock, and is no the sharpest tool in the shed.

3.) Anthony, 45-50, male, Caucasian, must look Italian. The father of John. He is not accepting of John’s sexuality and isn’t afraid to show it.

4.) Camilla, 45-50, female, Caucasian, must look Italian. The mother of John, wife of Anthony. She plays a meek character. She is not accepting of John’s sexuality because she was raised religious.

5.) Grandma Josephine, 60-80, female, Caucasian, must look Italian. The mother of Camilla. She is a funny Italian Grandma with a heavy accent.

6.) Grandpa Giuseppe, 60-80, male, Caucasian, must look Italian. The father of Camilla. He is the most accepting in the family and is the most hopeful character in the film.

Again, the story is a comedy. It’s in no way intended to offend anyone, but is exactly the opposite. The end is hopeful for those of the gay community and the short film is going to serve as a positive message to those struggling with coming out in tight-knit Conservative families.

Thank you,
Nina LoSchiavo
