Florida Studio Theatre, Richard Hopkins Artistic Director, will be holding local auditions by appointment at the Theatre in Sarasota, FL for the following show/roles in the 2010-11 Winter Mainstage season:

RACE • by David Mamet
A provocative new legal drama by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winner David Mamet. Three attorneys. Two black. One white. When a wealthy white man is charged with a crime against a young black woman, a debate ensues over whether or not to defend him. A fast-paced and engaging investigation into how society deals with guilt, class, sex, lies and race. RACE is sure to leave theatregoers discussing it long after the curtain goes down,

Jack Lawson – a Caucasian attorney in his 40’s

Charles Strickland – a Caucasian man in his 40’s

Henry Brown – a, African-American attorney in his 40’s

Susan– an African-American woman in her 20’s.

Begins rehearsal – January 4, 2011
Show opens – January 28, 2011
Show closes – April 2, 2011

The auditions will be held on Monday, Nov. 1 from 10am-1pm and 2-6pm at the Theatre (1241 North Palm Ave., Sarasota, FL). Auditionees should prepare the brief side they can obtain when scheduling an audition. All should bring an updated photo & resume to the audition.
