Auditions dates have been announced for The Sound of Music, Brewster Theater Company’s summer 2011 musical production.

Set in Austria 1930, this is the true story of Maria, an aspiring and highly spirited nun, who becomes a nanny to the Von Trapp children and ultimately wins the heart of their widower father, the Captain Von Trapp. Maria teaches the children to sing, bringing joy to an otherwise somber household. Political tensions between Austria and Germany ultimately force the family to flee their beloved homeland for America. One of the best-loved musicals of all time, this show includes time-honored classics as My Favorite Things, Do-Re-Mi, Edelwiess, and the title track Sound of Music.

Auditions dates are divided by age group as follows:
Friday, March 18 from 7-9 pm for college students only
Friday April 8, 7-9pm for adults
Saturday April 9, 10am-1pm for children
Saturday April 9, 2-5pm for adults

Callbacks will be held on Sunday April 10 from 1-5pm.

All auditions and callbacks will take place on the second floor of the Hudson Valley Cerebral Palsy Center 15 Mount Ebo Road in Brewster.

The Sound of Music is scheduled to be performed in August 4, 5 & 6 at the Brewster High School Performing Arts Center in Brewster. Under the direction of Christopher Gladysz and musical direction by Melissa Jones, this show will be produced by Pat Sebastian & Jennifer Darby.

The Sound of Music is presented by special arrangement with Rodgers and Hammerstein.
