Casting notice posted by an Americorps Volunteer
Casting notice posted on auditionsfree.com, casting location: Anchorage, AK
My name is Eric Braman, I am a recent graduate of Western Michigan University’s Theatre Performance and Creative Writing programs. I am now an Americorps volunteer at Camp Fire USA. One of the projects I have created for myself is to develop a “Theatre History Education” event that will perform at 7 day camps during the Anchorage Public School’s winter break. This performance will include an Ancient Greek Scene, Shakespearian Scene, Restoration Scene, American Classic, and Contemporary Piece. Following the performance, the actors and myself will run workshops (with the help of the camp counselors) for these students (ages K-5th grade) helping them make masks, playing improv games, and other fun theatre inspired activities. The event overall will take about 3-4 hours each performance, but is an amazing opportunity to work on a variety of theatrical works while also giving back to a community quickly losing its art education.
Rehearsals will begin in December and will be evening rehearsals.
Performances will take place during the early afternoon of Anchorage Public School’s winter break. Specific dates have not been chosen, but will be in the realms of December 19-22, 27-29, or January 3rd-6th. We may do more than one performance in a day, but I am going to try and avoid this.
All actors interested in helping will need to have a background check completed for the safety of the children. We will cover this cost.
