A darkly humorous look at life, death, mental illness, and family, Marvin’s Room is the story of two estranged sisters who are reunited when one of them needs the family to be tested for a bone marrow donation. 1992 Drama Desk Award for Best Play.

Looking to cast:

1W (30-50),
1W (70s),
1M (30-50),
2M (12-18).

Available Roles:

(Please note that Bessie and Lee are pre-cast.)

Ruth – 70’s, has been living with chronic pain and immobility. Receives comfort from her soap operas and her niece who cares for her.

Dr. Wally – man 30-50, a bumbling doctor

Dr. Charlotte – female 30-50, therapist and straight shooter.

Hank – teenager, troubled arsonist desperate to be loved.

Charlie – younger teenage, according to his mother he “reads too much”.

Prep 1 Contemporary monologue that runs a maximum of 2 minutes

Auditions at the Dragon Theatre (535 Alma St.) on Sunday, October 9, 2011 from 6 – 10pm

Callbacks at the Dragon Theatre (535 Alma St.) on Saturday, October 15, 2011 from 4 – 6pm

All rehearsals and performances to be held at the Dragon Theatre at 535 Alma St. in downtown Palo Alto.

Rehearsals begin Monday, December 5th.

Performances run January 20th – February 12th, 2012, Thursdays – Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 2pm.

Non AEA only. Stipend available.
