SYNOPSIS ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
XANADU follows the journey of a magical and beautiful Greek muse, Kira, who descends from the heavens of Mt. Olympus to Venice Beach, California in 1980 on a quest to inspire a struggling artist, Sonny, to achieve the greatest artistic creation of all time – the first ROLLER DISCO! (Hey, it’s 1980!) But, when Kira falls into forbidden love with the mortal Sonny, her jealous sisters take advantage of the situation and chaos abounds.
This hilarious, roller skating adventure (based on the Universal Pictures cult classic starring Olivia Newton John and Gene Kelly) rolls along to the original hit score which includes “Magic”, “All Over The World”, “Suddenly”, “I’m Alive”, “Evil Woman”, “Have You Never Been Mellow”, “Xanadu”, and many more.

SONNY MALONE – (Male, 16-30) A self-critical, mortal, chalk artist who falls in love with Kira. Handsome. Very 80’s. (D3-C5)
KIRA/CLIO – (Female, 16-25) The youngest of Zeus’s Muse daughters, who falls in love with Sonny. Pretty. Adventurous. Speaks with a fake Australian accent for most of the show. (G3-C6)
DANNY MAGUIRE – (Male, 50-60) The hard-nosed businessman who owns the Xanadu theater. (C3-D4)
MELPOMENE – (Female, 35-55) Kira’s older sister, who creates the plot for Kira’s downfall out of jealousy. (G3-E5)
CALLIOPE – (Female, 40-60) Kira’s jealous older sister and fellow muse who plots against her. Melpomene’s partner in crime. (B3-D5)
ERATO – (Female, 20s-30s) One of Kira’s sisters and fellow muse. (B3-C5)
EUTERPE – (Female, 20s-30s) One of Kira’s sisters and fellow muse. (B3-C6)
TERPSICORE – (Male, 20s-30s) One of Kira’s sisters and fellow muse. If possible, this role should be played by a man. (G3-C5)
THALIA – (Male, 20s-30s) One of Kira’s sisters and fellow muse. If possible, this role should be played by a man. (G3-C5)

– Prepare 16 bars of a solo that showcases your voice, with recorded accompaniment. An accompanist will NOT be provided.
– Be prepared to learn and perform a short dance combination.
