We are two NYU students making a film in Detroit, MI. ‘Eisoptrophobia’ is an experimental narrative about a young woman who has to confront her fear of her own reflection. In doing so, she learns a lot about her own identity, specifically in reference to her relationship with her own overbearing boyfriend. This short piece deals a lot with gender and what it means to be a woman in contemporary culture as well as memory and nostalgia.

The two roles being cast are:

AGATHA, early 20s, female. This is two roles in one. Agatha developed an inexplicable fear of her own reflection once she sees something in a photograph she takes. She’s an aspiring photographer. She has to deal with severe depression once her reflection phobia sets in. Once her boyfriend locks her in a room with a mirror, her reflection becomes personified and takes her on a little trip to visit unsettling memories.

ERIC, mid 20s, male. Eric is Agatha’s sometimes insensitive boyfriend. He has to take care of her in her state of depression.

Please email a headshot to me and we can set up a Skype audition (we’re both out of state, at the moment). The shoot dates are Friday, Saturday and Sunday, either the weekend of Dec. 21st or Dec. 28th. Food will be provided. Transportation will be reimbursed. This is going to be a really informal shoot, but we are both really passionate about the piece.
