Samaya is a new multimedia music/performance piece inspired by the arresting images and vibrant energy of Buddhist Tantra. www.samayaHUM.com
Based in the living tradition of Tibetan Vajrayana Buddhism, Samaya aims to invoke sacred energy of the ancient Practice Lineage. Through the juxtaposition of captivating contemporary music, live vocal performance, recited and projected text in English, Tibetan, and Sanskrit, and immersive film, this world premier production will engulf the audience in an unforgettably invigorating yet meditative experience.
Performances are June 28, 29, July 1 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
Casting:
We are currently searching for ensemble members to round out the team; in particular, we are looking for strong vocalists (especially women, but men are welcome to submit) who are comfortable with staged movement / dance, and instrumentalists (violin, cello, bass) who are interested in a highly collaborative process. The goal is to bring together a team of people who are interested in and connected to the subject matter. Mindfulness practice will be part of the rehearsal process. Dance / Viewpoints / Suzuki training are a plus!
