Open Casting Call for kids – Boys to play 7 or 8 years old – This is for a major speaking role in the film.

The Jeff Nichols Feature Film “Midnight Special” is doing a talent search to find boys who are 6 to 10 years old (to play 7 to 8 years old). The Film will hold ope casting calls in Shreveport and Baton Rouge Louisiana.
“Midnight Special” is about a father and son. It is a sci-fi / chase movie about a father who realizes that his son posses special powers. The pair is forced to go on the run and is being chased by others. “Midnight Special” stars Kirsten Dunst, Michael Shannon(Man of Steel, Boardwalk Empire, Mud), Joel Edgerton(Zero Dark Thirty) and is written and directed by Jeff Nichols (Mud, Take Shelter). The film is currently in pre-production and will begin filming in 2014.
The casting team will be in each city this weekend, please see below for locations and dates. They will be in Shreveport on Friday, and Baton Rouge on Sunday. They are not casting any adults at this time, this is strictly for boys.
This casting call is specifically for boys who are 6 to 10 and they are only casting this specific role at the moment.
BOYS – CAUCASIAN (ages 6-10) – to play age 7/8. We are looking for kids with unique personalities and looks and are especially interested in kids who may have a special intelligence or wisdom (gifted and talented students, kids with unique interests, etc). We are also looking for kids who have an “old soul” feel to them. All looks encouraged.

If attending any of the above kids auditions please be sure to bring a photo that you will be able to leave with the casting directors. If your child has done any acting work in the past please bring his resume. You are also asked to have your child wear a solid colored shirt that does not have any graphics, patterns or brand logos on it.
This casting will be done by Sarah Dowling Casting out of Texas. Again, no adults are being cast at this time. After the movie begins production in 2014, there may be some casting calls for extras.
