FOX has ordered a new series based on the Batman comic strip. The new series, ‘Gotham‘ is now filming scenes in the New York City area and has begun releasing calls for extras and featured extras. Casting directors at Grant Wilfley are looking to find some real life bucket drummers that are able to work on 3/20 in NYC. New York City residents only since travel expenses are not covered.
The show just began filming so no doubt there will be more casting calls in NYC, and they had a couple other casting notices last week .
The new show is an exciting project for anyone who loves Batman. The new show will not focus on the Batman character, but rather the character of commissioner Gordon before Bruce Wayne became Batman. The series is described as a police drama however it will include many of the villains from the Batman series and give us the story of how they actually became who they are.
The website Variety has announced that the show has cast 2 preteen actors to play the roles of the young Batman and cat woman. The pre-teen Bruce Wayme will be played by David Mazouz (Touch). Selina Kyle who becomes Catwoman will be played by Camren Bicondova.
Both teens will start in the series as orphans. The series takes place after Bruce Wayne’s parents have already been killed.
Gotham is created by Bruno Heller and FOX has ordered the show’s first season on a ‘straight to series’ order rather than going through the usual TV pilot process. The Warner Bros TV show is now in production of the 13 episodes that FOX has ordered.
“Gotham” will be directed by Danny Cannon(CSI). Bruno Heller (The Mentalist) is serving as the new show’s executive producer.
