Jake Gyllenhall Movie “Southpaw” open calls in Indiana Announced

“Southpaw” has scheduled more open calls in PA and Indiana.

Hope Films Inc will be filming the boxing movie “Southpaw” this summer. The company has announced that they will be using 1000’s of extras and will be needing as many as 300 per day for large crowd scenes to be shot around Pittsburgh and Indiana.

The next casting call will take place this Saturday in Monroeville at the Monroeville Convention Center, 209 Mall Boulevard, Monroeville 15146 (South entrance).

The films recent casting calls brought out hundreds of people but it doesn’t seem to be enough to fill the production’s needs of 300+ extras a day for 10 days of filming, so, more open casting calls are scheduled for next week in PA and Indiana.

Three more open calls are scheduled in June in Indiana.

June 3 and June 4, from 4 to 7 p.m. both days, along with June 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., all at the Indiana Mall, 2334 Oakland Ave., Indiana 15701. Enter near Sears and look for signs.

Scenes for the “Southpaw” movie will be filming in Indiana in the month of June and then set to move production to the Pittsburgh area for July and August shoots.

The film being shot mostly in the Pittsburgh area and directed by Antoine Fuqua, who directed Denzel Washington in the film “Training Day,” which got Denzel Washington an Oscar.  Antoine Fuqua also directed “Olympus Has Fallen” with Gerard Butler and “Brooklyn’s Finest”.

The production has updated the details about the film’s storyline.

Cocky, aggressive, volatile middleweight champion Billy Hope (Mr. Gyllenhaal) fully expects to ride out his career with his massive winnings, adoring fans, beloved wife, Maureen, and their 10-year-old daughter, Leila.When Billy’s temper triggers a fight and then a shootout that leaves Maureen dead, Billy finds his life spiraling out of control. After he loses his house, money and then, Leila, to a group foster home, he begins to find his way back to some kind of balance with the help of amateur trainer Titus “Tick” Willis.
