ANKH Repertory Theatre-ART & The Finest! Performance Foundation Inc. announce Auditions for the August 2015 production of THE WIZ
“The Wiz” is a retelling of the L. Frank Baum classic story, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. The soulful musical is set in the context of African-American culture with music and lyrics by Charlie Smalls. The ANKH Repertory Theatre or ART will be holding auditions in the Washington DC area ( Gaithersburg MD) for lead roles (Dorothy, Tin Man, Scarecrow and Lion) as well as supporting roles and ensemble (munchkins, funky monkey). The show is also looking for a phenomenal dancer to play the epic storm, Tornado.
The show will be performed in August and auditions for all roles will be held on the 5th of June. Audition slots are by appointment only. Please see the details below to request your audition time slot.

Dorothy, Scarecrow, TinMan, Lion, The Wizard, Addaperle/Miss 1, Evillene/Wicked Witch of The West, & Glenda/Good Witch
Actors for these roles must be EXTREMELY GIFTED VOCALISTS and be able to MOVE EXTREMELY WELL.
Persons wishing to be considered for these roles must prepare:
-(2) Songs (1) song of choice & (1) show song of the character
you wish to be considered
-(1) Monologue (Not To exceed 2 minutes)
Ensemble:
Munchkins,WInkies, Poppies, Funky Monkeys, Emerald City Citizens, Mouse Squad

By the way, NBC is working on the Christmas holiday special… “The Wiz Live”. The NBC version of “The Wiz” will be holding open auditions in NYC for the lead role of Dorothy.
