AUDITIONS BEING HELD FOR ANNUAL HOLIDAY CLASSIC THE NUTCRACKER

Reprise of the Timeless Masterpiece for the Tenth Season At The Historic Alex Theatre in Glendale, California. Auditions Are Saturday, September 19th and Sunday, September 20th.
Please note that this is not a paid job and children cast for the production will need to pay a costume and membership fee. Please see all the details below.
Children’s ballet auditions – all levels ages 5 plus.
The legendary ballet follows Clara, a young girl on a magical journey one enchanted Christmas Eve, as her toy Nutcracker comes to life and whisks her away to the Land of the Sweets. The Nutcracker will be presented
for four performances – December 11th and 13th – at the historic Alex Theatre Glendale, California.
The Nutcracker, produced by The Red Chair Children’s Production Company based in Burbank, California, is holding OPEN AUDITIONS Saturday, September 19th and Sunday, September 20th.
WHERE: The Red Chair Dance Center, 3111 Winona Avenue, Burbank (Entrance on Ontario)
WHO: Variation Solo Auditions: Saturday, September 19th from 4:00 – 6:00 pm – Registration begin at 3:30 pm.
Intermediate to advanced dancers must present a solo audition piece that exhibits their overall performance ability, including dance technique and artistry. Pointe preferred but not necessary. The piece should not
exceed two and a half minutes. Please come with an accompaniment CD. Auditions are first come first serve.
Call Backs to be held Sunday, September 20th beginning at 3:00 pm.
Auditions: Sunday, September 20th
- 10:00 am – Age 5 – 6 years old: Theatrical children who move well and exhibit good concentration.
- 11:00 am – Ages 7-9 years old: Theatrical children with one year of recent ballet experience.
- 1:00 pm – Ages 10-12 years old: Theatrical dancers with a minimum of two years recent ballet.
- 12:00 pm Ages 10-12 years old: Theatrical dancers with intermediate to advanced ballet training.
- 2:00 pm – Ages 13+ years old: Theatrical dancers with advanced ballet training.
Call Backs to begin at 3:00 pm.
Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your audition time.
Dance attire is required; students currently en pointe should bring pointe shoes; and, hair must be pulled back in a bun. Membership and costume fees is $155.
The Red Chair Children’s Production Company is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, founded in 2005 that creates extraordinary theatre and dance experiences for children and youth in the San Fernando Valley and surrounding communities. The Red Chair Dance
Center’s classical ballet conservatory is one of the only ballet programs serving youth in Southern California that is dedicated to educating dancers through the prestigious American Ballet Theatre’s National Training Curriculum.
