Want to be in a movie? Universal Pictures has an online casting call going on for the “Jem and the Holograms” movie.
“Jem and The Holograms” is an iconic Hasbro TV show from the 80’s about a teen girl named Jem and her girl group. Universal is holding an online casting call / video contest for singers, actors and dancers to land a small role in the upcoming film. While Universal doesn’t state what this role will be, they are looking to get online video submissions from singers, actors, dancers and fans.
The online video auditions that talent may submit must fall into 1 of three categories… “Get in Rhythm with Jem,” ” how much do you love Jem” and “dancing with friends”. Universal pictures has setup a website that talent can download the music from and submit their videos to for consideration.
John Chu (Step Up series, G.I. Joe: Retaliation) directs this live action version of this 80’s Hasbro cartoon. Producing the project are John Chu, Jason Blum (Blumhouse Productions) and Stephen Davis of Hasbro Studios. “Jem” stars Aubrey Peeples, 80s teen icon, Molly Ringwald, Juliette Lewis, Stefanie Scott, Aurora Perrineau, Hayley Kiyoko and Ryan Guzman.
In Universal Pictures’ “Jem and the Holograms“, 4 aspiring female musicians take the world by storm. Jerrica (Jem) is a small town girl who becomes a video sensation and a worldwide superstar as she forms a girl group with 3 other girls. Aubrey Peeples plays Jerrica AKA Jem. Jem is the lead singer in her all girl rock band. Joining Jem in the girl group, are the holograms…. Stefanie Scott, who plays Kimber, Aurora Perrineau as Shana and Hayley Kiyoko as Aja.

- You can create as many videos as you want!
- Before you record your video, make sure you are not wearing any brand logos and make sure you do not have any materials around you with identifiable brand logos.
- Once you’ve created your audition video, post it to any video sharing platform and submit the link at StarInJem.com.
- You can download all music to use at StarInJem.com.
The online casting call is going on now. The website does not seem to list any age or location restrictions for talent who would like to try out for chance to be cast in the “Jem and the Holograms” movie. The film is set to hit theaters in October of 2015 and the trailer was released a few months back… check it out below.
