OPEN CASTING CALL – Independent Feature Film – They
We are holding an open casting for the lead character in our upcoming independent feature film entitled “They,” a coming of age drame. Non-actors, union, and non-union are welcome to audition. This is a paid gig. Rehearsals will be May to June (if you’re not available in May it is still OK) with filming taking place July to early September (before school starts) in the Chicago, IL area.
Synopsis: J, in their early teens must make a decision soon about their gender identity. In the absence of their parents who are on a short trip, J’s older sister and her partner show up at their house to take care of J. The characters find themselves in an in-between place in their lives, and their common experiences of suspension and transition push their dynamics in different directions over the three days that they spend together.
Character Breakdown:
J: Early teens, 12-14 years old, is androgynous and goes by the pronoun They. J has a quiet and observant demeanor, enjoys reading poetry and likes to be around plants.
