Revolutionary Gentleman

Location: Washington, DC

Type: Theater

Casting actors/legit singers for the new comic-tragic light rock musical “Revolutionary Gentleman,” a tongue-in-cheek, behind-the-scenes look at the American Revolution as seen through the eyes of Benedict Arnold.

Auditions are underway for the new tragic-comic pop-rock musical, “Revolutionary Gentleman,” to be produced April 13,14 & 15, 2017 at the Lee Center, Old Town Alexandria. Ethnicity is unimportant, but we prefer that actors/singers be local to the Washington, DC area

The five leads are paid positions–a total stipend of $300 for non-union, and Special Appearance contract for equity actors.

There are many voluntary opportunities for minor roles and chorus.

  • Benedict Arnold, 35-60, the anti-hero, baritone/2nd tenor;
  • Peggy Arnold, 18-30, femme fatale, alto/2nd soprano;
  • Emily, 18-40, Ben’s English nurse in 19th Century London, and “Every Woman” in Colonial America of the 1780s, alto;
  • John Andre, Peggy’s lover and English officer, tenor;
  • Mr. Reed, 40-70, president of the Philadelphia Council, Ben’s sniveling, peevish nemesis; baritone/bass.

If you wish to audition for one of the lead roles, please learn at least 16 bars of a song from the show. For women, learn “Up a Creek” and for men, learn “Greatest Hero.” (You may either accompany yourself or use the rough piano accompaniment provided. Don’t worry about the parts. Just sing all parts, straight through. It doesn’t have to be fancy. You can record it on your phone).
