Lee Daniel’s TV Pilot casting call in Atlanta
Lee Daniel’s, co-creator of FOX’s hit series “Empire” has a new show coming up. The currently untitled series is described a a music oriented drama. The show is filming some reshoots for the pilot in Atlanta and has a casting call out for background actors.
MHC in Atlanta is seeking to cast punk rock and alternative types to portray friends of one of the show’s main actresses. The casting directors are seeking some unique looks such as people with long hair, mohawks, dreads, bright colored hair and tattoos. There is a second call out for families that look down on their luck and blue collar types. The show filmed over the winter and is now re-shooting some of the scenes. The scenes will be filming in the Atlanta area on the 7th of next month.
According to a story in The Wrap, the new series is about a girl group struggling to make it in the music scene. The show will star Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny and Brittany O’Grady. The report also states that Queen Latifah has joined the cast of “Empire” co-creator Lee Daniels‘ new untitled Fox drama pilot. The show is set in the Atlanta area and centers around the rise of an all female singing group made up of 3 members. The group is led by a white woman who formed the group with 2 African American singers. Queen Latifah will be playing the owner of a beauty parlor in Atlanta that befriends the girls and acts as their mentor. Last summer, FOX announced the upcoming drama at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour.
This is filming in Atlanta and MHC (Marinella Hume Casting) is only seeking local talent.
