OPENING COMPANY. Based on Walt Disney Picture’s Live Action Beauty and the Beast, playing now in theaters; Disney Cruise Line® is casting an Opening Company for the Disney Dream cruise ship. The Disney Dream awarded BEST LARGE CRUISE SHIP by Cruise Critics.
Disney Cruise Line® is once again teaming up with the 2016 Astaire Award winner, New York Director & Choreographer: Connor Gallagher. Connor Choreographed Disney Cruise Line’s® Tangled, the Musical on board the Disney Magic. His works include award winning The Robber Bridegroom (Roundabout Theatre Company), Robert Schenkkan’s The Twelve (Denver Center) and Found (Philadelphia Theatre Company).
Along with our Artistic and Production Director, Ed Whitlow, we will be hiring a repertory company of 24 performers to portray roles in each of our musical theatre style productions. Toronto rehearsal begins early June 2017 with onboard performance contract ending March 2018. Contracts include: competitive pay plus bonus, room and board, guest sailing privileges, and additional benefits package
Seeking:
Exceptional male acrobat or circus performer with unique skills to be the centerpiece for a new interpretation of ‘Be Our Guest’ in the new stage version of Beauty and the Beast. The number will be built around the performer’s skill set which may include any of the following: breakdancing, Capoeira, balancing, contortion, extreme tumbling (off of tables, landing in unique positions) and power tumbling. The performer should have a moderate level of basic dance ability as well, and capable of learning musical theatre style choreography. Performer will be involved in all repertory shows and should be comfortable blending into an ensemble of actors and dancers. Past musical theatre experience a plus but not required.
Requirements:
-Performers must be at least 18 years of age.
-Please provide a current headshot and resume.
-Candidates should arrive prepared to demonstrate their individual abilities; breakdancing, Capoeira, balancing, contortion, tumbling, parkour.
-Called back candidates will be taught a basic musical theatre movement combination.
