Superstar Productions is producing a web series called Kids News! It’s a series of 5 minute, colorful and sometimes silly videos where kids teach about contemporary news events ie fake news, Russian propaganda ect. Emphasis is on encouraging critical thought.
It is basically like a The Daily Show or John Oliver or Samantha Bee, but with a kid as the host.
Notes on the performance: The character is excited to share their information effectively and efficiently with their best friend or little sibling. Play the serious lines very serious and the silly lines playfully. Have fun with it. Tell it directly to the camera.
We are asking for audition videos (shot on a cell phone is absolutely acceptable).
Script:
HOST: Some things are real and some things are fake. But on the internet everything looks the same. Like, I found out this monkey named Harambe was shot AND wounded AND killed ALL for a crime he didn?t commit. I was wrecked. I love monkeys. they go ooh ooh, ah ah in their monkey cages and finding out this monkers was gunned down on youtube was terrible. I didn?t leave my house for a whole day and I stopped eating bananas. Then I saw THIS OTHER youtube video where this guy was saying the whole thing was faked and then I was really happy and ate a hundred bananas. Which made me really sick but I WILL do it again without thinking because my monkey LIVES, booyah.
Then my mom told me that the second video was actually fake, then I was like ?I don?t even know what I feel. I didn?t even know this monkey in the first place, anyway.
