Get cast in the lead speaking role in upcoming Mike Tyson movie
Mike Tyson biopic, Cornerman is now in pre-production and has a nationwide open casting call out for an actor to play the lead role of Mike Tyson.
The movie has been in development for quite some time now but it seems that Anthony Hopkins is now on board and is set to star opposite…. maybe you. The movie’s casting directors are on a nationwide search for a young actor to play the role of a young Mike Tyson. The available role calls for an African American male actor ages 16 to 25 with a large build. If others have told you that you kinda look like Mike Tyson, this may be your chance to get cast in the lead role.
Cornerman will star Anthony Hopkins and is described as a Mike Tyson biopic which follows Tyson from an early age. The movie will be directed by Rupert Friend with parts set in the 1980’s. The project focuses on legendary boxing trainer Cus D’Amato as he mentors a young man who becomes the youngest boxing heavyweight champion of the world, Mike Tyson. There had been lots of talk about the Mike Tyson biopic for years and in 2014 Jamie Foxx seemed to be attached to the film and rumor had it that Martin Scorsese would be involved as well. Screen Rant: Speaking of getting punched, one of the most polarizing lives of the past thirty years has been Mike Tyson. I know you were attached [to a biopic of Tyson], what’s the update on that?
Jamie Foxx: That is a go.
Screen Rant: It’s a go? Martin Scorsese’s still attached?
Jamie Foxx: Yeah, he’s attached, and it’s—Mike Tyson’s life is one of the most amazing American stories.
Please note that the only role being cast now is that of boxing legend, Mike Tyson. Auditions are being held online via an email submission and video audition process. The casting directors have set-up a web page for actors interested in the role. The video audition page is requesting that actors download a short script, record a video of them performing the scene and then follow the on page instructions to submit their video audition to the casting team.
The talent search is open to African American males who are at least 16 years of age.
