Unicef Project in NYC is Casting an African American child / teen Actor

Unicef Video project is casting a 10 – 14 year old African American male child actor

Location: New York, NY

Type: Educational

TeachUNICEF (the Education Department of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF) is designing an interactive student workshop to introduce 4th – 8th graders to the concepts of global citizenship and international human rights. The workshop is an emergency simulation centered around the food and nutrition crisis in the Sahel region of Africa. After learning about the impacts of the crisis on children in the Sahel, students will assume roles as local villagers and work in small groups to critically and creatively discuss problems and identify solutions. Video components are an integral part of this workshop, providing both factual information and narrative stories.

TeachUNICEF is seeking a 10 – 14 year old African American actor (preferably of West African descent) for roles in the three short videos included in the workshop. Some video components will show actual UNICEF footage from the field, with the actor serving as the narrator. Other video components will feature the actor in the role of a villager, sharing first-person accounts. All information portrayed by the actor is based on real-life accounts. The goal of the video segments is to present information in a personal and compelling manner by an actor who is relatable to the students participating in the workshop.
