“Un-Chained” – NOLA Theater Auditions

Looking for two actors of any enthnicity to portray the supporting roles of 17-18 years old in the special City of Love stage production of Un-Chained. The Production will run on these dates in August. August 5th, August 12th, August 19th. Rehearsals are minimal for this special production.

UnChained is a coming of age story of a 12 year old boy named Jazz who has aspirations of becoming a poet/trumpet player. Jazz’s gift to express himself with strong life changing poems for everyone to hear is short changed by the sudden death of his grandmother. Moving forward 6 years later, Jazz is now 18 years old and he finds himself in the fight of his life trying to hold on to his tender dream of becoming a hip-hop poet/trumpet player. He now has to support his family on his own now that his father is incarcerated and his mother is strung out on drugs. Jazz finds himself in the fight of his life to Unchain himself from becoming another statistic of falling into the death trap of the street pharmaceutical game.

Roles:

Pastor John Henry (30s-40s) is a traditional Baptist preacher stuck in his old ways. Pastor John hates the young generation and how the hip hop culture has affected his young church members. This causes Pastor John to go crazy. Actor must have singing skills for this character.

Show is one night August 12th at 7pm
Rehearsals are very flexible.
