Some things to be aware of…

Lots of people know that many kids and teens would love the opportunity to audition for Disney and may take advantage of your hopes and dreams. Make sure that the opportunity is legit. No, seriously! Disney audition scams is one of the most used in this industry. Real Disney casting directors do not ask you for payment as they are paid by the Walt Disney Company in order to find YOU! I have written many articles about the various Disney audition scams over the years. You can find some of them below.

So, the above links provide lots of information about what to watch out for when you or your kid wants to be the next Disney breakout star.  But here are a few more tips, just in case you didn’t read the above…which you should as there are 100s of comments from users attached that provide insight into their experiences as well as warnings. Nearly a decade has passed since my initial post on this topic, and regrettably, the Disney acting audition scam persists, continuing to exploit parents across the country. Little has changed in the past ten years, as Disney kids audition scams remain prevalent throughout the United States. Take a look at:

Parents should approach any offer with a healthy dose of skepticism and diligently conduct their research to protect against potential scams.   Always keep in mind the following: Real casting directors get paid by the company looking for the talent…not by you! Many states, in fact have laws that prevent  someone calling themselves a casting director from actually requiring payment from those that are auditioning… so check the laws in your state. Sales people will try to sell, but nobody should ever try to sell you on anything as it’s you selling to them.  It’s an audition, meaning you are the one trying to sell your talent, not the other way around.  If it feels like a high pressure sales tactic..it actually is.

And always remember that auditions for anything Disney, any show, any producti0n, any project or commercial are always free. That’s right, Disney auditions are ALWAYS free because the Walt Disney Company, Disney Channel, or any of their sister companies pay the casting directors to find you! Trust your own instincts.  If you have a reason to question the opportunity, you aren’t wrong.
