AUDITION NOTICE for Pointless Theatre’s Minnie The Moocher!
POINTLESS THEATRE seeks physical performers, movers, and dancers of color for an exciting upcoming summer project! The piece is a music, movement, and dance-heavy puppet show set in the 1930’s Jazz era based on the music of Cab Calloway.
Description of Available Roles:
– (1) female dancer/ masked performer (dance experience required)
– (1) female puppeteer and dancer
– (1) male dancer/ masked performer (dance experience required)
– (1) ensemble member/ additional puppeteer (non-gender specific role)
– Non-Actor’s Equity Association performers only
– We are only casting non-white roles at this time
PAID POSITION (offers a stipend)
Recommended Movement Experience:
– Dance- specifically jitterbug-style jazz, tap, and swing
– Puppet experience and other forms of physical performance- acrobatics, pantomime, mask work, etc. all welcome
For the Audition:
Please come prepared to move with appropriate dance footwear. Prepare 30 seconds of jazz or tap choreography to a Cab Calloway song of your choice. In the audition, we will also teach a combination- we will NOT be teaching a tap combination. If you’d like to tap for us, please prepare a tap piece for your original choreography.
