Youth Symphony Auditions for the Dupage Symphony

The Symphony will hold the 55th annual Young Artists Auditions.

The audition date is scheduled for 2/5/2011 – The Symphony auditions are open to student musicians and who attend high school or its equivalent within DuPage, Kane or Will counties, or who live within one of these counties and attend a high school or its equivalent in another part of the state.

Eligible performers include singers, pianists, and other musicians who play instruments ordinarily found in a symphony orchestra, and for which there exists an available orchestral accompaniment of the audition work.

Interested musicians must submit an application in advance, and participate in the Feb. 5 auditions. The first place winner will receive $500 and appear as a soloist with the DSO during its Barber & Bernstein concert March 19. The second place winner will receive $300.

Auditions will be held at Steinway of Chicago, 1205-A Butterfield Road in Downers Grove. Audition information and applications may be downloaded at www.dupagesymphony.org. Applications must be postmarked by Jan. 7 and include an entry fee of $30. Applications are accepted in the order in which they are received; no more than 30 will be accepted.
