The LA Opera will be holding auditions for trained and experienced singers for the 2012 / 2013 Opera season. Auditions are for the Los Angeles Opera Chorus.
Auditions are by invitation only and you must complete and submit an application in order to be considered. Please download the application information here.
Professional singers with training and experience with operatic literature and performance are encouraged to apply. Due to the season’s casting requirements, tenors and basses are especially encouraged to apply.
All applications must be submitted on or before 5:00pm PST on Monday, February 13, 2012 in order to be considered for an audition spot.
The LA Opera chorus is cast for individual productions on an as needed basis and will not be a full time position.
Singers will be asked to prepare two selections from the standard operatic repertory. Both pieces should be in different languages and both should be in languages other than English. An accompanist will be provided for all auditions. Singers may also be tested on their musicianship (sight reading and tonal memory, i.e. the ability to sing back a melody played on the piano) and lyric diction in French, German and Italian. At the audition, singers will also be required to submit paperwork on their availability (based on a preliminary rehearsal and performance schedule) and their ability to fulfill special requirements (as listed for each production).
