Matthew McConaughey Film “Free State of Jones” Casting Call in NOLA

The new Matthew McConaughey Civil War film “Free State of Jones” has a casting call out for background actors in Louisiana.

“Free State Of Jones” will be directed by “The Hunger Games” director Gary Ross and will begin production in early 2015 in the New Orleans and Lafayette area. The movie’s extras casting directors are seeking to cast the core group of background actors.

McConaughey will play Newton Knight, a Civil War Confederate soldier who deserts the confederate army and then leads a fight against the Confederacy. Knight and a group of fellow deserters disagreed with the crippling taxation as well as other laws imposed on them including the the law that allowed rich slave owning, plantation owners to pass on joining the confederate army. The anti-confederate rebellion came to be known as the Free State of Jones. On October 13, 1863, a band of deserters from Jones County and adjacent counties organized to protect the area from Confederate authorities and the crippling tax collections.They led raids and captured food and supplies collected as tax and distributed the goods and food back to the population. In July 1864, there were reports by news organizations that Jones County had seceded from the Confederacy.

Newton Knight’s son Thomas later created a written account of his father’s fight which led to an almost Robin Hood like legend of Newt Jones. He painted a picture of the group as heroes who were protecting poor white farmers from the abuses of tax agents. Knight’s fight continued after the war as did his defiance. He married a former slave and established the area as the first mixed race community.

Caballero Casting in LA is handling extras for “Free State of Jones”. They are now accepting general submissions for Background Actors. The production will begin filming in the area in February 2015 and will film through May of 2015. According to the film’s IMDB page, “Free State of Jones” will be released in theaters sometime in 2016.

New Casting Call on “Sleepy Hollow” New Bern, NC

“Sleepy Hollow” will be filming scenes in the New Bern NC area next month.

The show’s casting directors are seeking folks local to New Bern who would like to be extras on the FOX series. The show is filming a 1700’s flashback scene so all talent cast will also need to be available for a wardrobe fitting prior to the shoot. The scene is looking for adults and children who have a natural look. The scene is scheduled to film on the 12th and is expected to have a very early call time of 5:30 AM. Also, this is expected to be a long day and talent submitting should be available to work 12+ hours.

“Sleepy Hollow” is a supernatural detective series based on “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” by Washington Irving. The show has a a modern day twist in that it is actually set in modern times. Ichabod Crane finds himself resurrected centuries later. The headless horseman follows him into modern day Sleepy Hollow. The horseman quickly returns to his old habits and Ichabod teams up with a female officer to try to get to the bottom of whats going on as well as investigate a string of bizarre murders that Ichabod believes the horseman is behind. The pair must stop the horseman from completing his larger agenda of bringing on the Apocalypse.

CASTING CALL FOR NEW BERN, NC AREA
NEW BERN, NC- We are really only looking to book folks in the New Bern area.

FOX’s hit TV series Sleepy Hollow is looking for Caucasian Men, Women and Children (6-13 yrs old) to work as paid extras for a 1700s flashback scene that will be filmed in the New Bern, NC area on January 12th with fittings to be held in the New Bern area between Friday Jan 9th-Sunday Jan 11th. We ask that you prepare for what could be a 12+hr day of filming on the 12th and could start as early as 530 AM. Pay is a guaranteed $64 total for up to 8 hr and time and a half after 8. You will also receive a $15 bump for coming in for fitting.

Because this is a 1700s flashback scene we are looking Men who would be willing to be clean shaven. We are asking that Women not have facial piercings (or can be easily removed), hair must be a natural looking color, and must have natural finger nails (so no acrylic nails). We only need a small number of Children and we ask that the boys have longer hair and that your child does not wear braces.

Extras and Featured Extras Wanted on “Chicago P.D.” in Chicago

NBC’s “Chicago P.D.” will be resuming filming the new season in January and there is a new call out for background talent.

Chicago area locals have a chance to be cast in background roles on NBC’s “Chicago Fire“. Season 2 of the series will resume filming shortly and the show’s casting directors are seeking general and featured talent to work on an episode filming between the 5th and 15th. The show films in the Chicago, Illinois area. Please only apply if you are local to the area and available for full days of work on the dates listed.

“Chicago P.D.” is a spin off of NBC’s popular drama, “Chicago Fire“. The show airs on NBC and follows the uniformed street cops and the Intelligence Unit team at District 21 of the Chicago Police Department. ”Law and Order’s” Dick Wolf is executive producing the show along with Matt Olmstead(“Chicago Fire,” “Breakout Kings,” “Prison Break“), Peter Jankowski ( “Law & Order” ) and Michael Brandt (“Chicago Fire“). The show’s cast includes Don Kress, Andre Bellos and America Olivo.

The World Famous “Pageant of the Masters” is casting Models

Orange County CA – The living art exhibit “Pageant of the Masters” is holding a casting call for models.

The south Orange County event is seeking models of all ages that are able to sit or stand still in full makeup and costume for 90 seconds or more. The yearly art event uses models to create life sized reproductions of works from the great masters. The summer 2015 series and performances will run nightly beginning on July 8th and will go through Aug. 31, 2015.

The 2015 show, “The Pursuit of Happiness,” is seeking men, women and children to volunteer. People of all sizes and ages are needed to be cast members in the world’s most famous presentation of tableaux vivants (living pictures). No prior theater experience is required but the ability to stand still for a few minutes at a time is highly desired. Those attending the casting call will get their pictures taken as well as be measured for possible costumes. The “Pageant of the Masters” is also looking for volunteers in other areas as well, wardrobe, make up, and headdress departments are also in need of help.

The Pageant of the Masters is part of Laguna Beach’s Festival of Arts, one of the nation’s oldest and most highly acclaimed juried fine art shows. The Laguna Beach Festival of Arts offers a variety of art exhibits and has showcased artists for over 8 decades.

Pageant of the Masters is Where Art Comes To Life!

The Pageant of the Masters is the Festival of Arts’ crowning jewel and arguably one of the most unique productions in the entire world. It is world-renowned in the artistry and theatrical illusion of living pictures. Each night during the summer season at 8:30 the Festival of Arts presents this famous attraction.

The casting call will be held at the Irvine Bowl Park (650 Laguna Canyon Road, Laguna Beach) during the following times: Friday, Jan. 9 and Saturday, Jan. 10 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday, Jan. 11 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Casting call is a fun experience for all involved.

Prospective volunteers will be measured and photographed, enjoy refreshments and meet the behind-the-scenes pageant staff. No theater experience is necessary. The only requirement is the ability to stand still and have fun.

“The Revenant” Starring Leonardo DiCaprio Open Casting Call Around Calgary Area

Another open casting call for extras has been announced for the Leo DiCaprio Movie “The Revenant“.

The casting call will be held in the Calgary area (Lethbridge) where the movie is filming and is seeking aboriginal extras ages 16 to 60. The open call will be held in early 2015 at the Lethbridge Lodge. Those interested in being paid movie extras can come down between 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. on Jan. 10th to meet with the film’s casting directors. The film began production in Calgary at the end of September and is expected to film through the winter until April 2015.

“The Revenant” is based upon the 2003 novel by Michael Punke. “The Revenant” will be directed by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu who also is writing the screenplay along with “Vacancy” writer Mark L Smith. The film will star Leonardo DiCaprio and there are rumors that Tom Hardy and Domhnall Gleeson will be joining him in the production. The new Dicaprio film is an adaptation of the Michael Punke novel of the same name. The story is that of a fur trapper who is set on revenge against the men he believes wronged him.

“The Revenant” follows a 19th century fur trapper named Hugh Glass, who gets mauled by a grizzly bear. Near death, the terrain makes it impossible for his colleagues to carry him back to their fort. They leave him for dead but he survives and sets out on a treacherous journey to exact revenge on those who betrayed him and left him for dead.

According to the film’s IMDB page, “The Revenant” is “the 1820’s story of a frontiersman, Hugh Glass, who set out on a path of vengeance against those who left him for dead after a bear mauling.” Of course Leonardo will be playing the lead of trapper Hugh Glass.

The film held a casting call for extras in Calgary some months back as well when it began filming in the area.

The Phoenix Theater Company would like to announce auditions for it’s Spring 2015 production of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s iconic Rock-Opera “Jesus Christ Superstar” to be Produced by Keri Jeanne Boe and Directed by Christopher Ryan with Musical Direction by Jason Ferrandino and Technical Direction by Joe Marturano of Thunder & Lighting, Inc.

This production will be a traditional interpretation of the classic Rock-Opera that has kept people talking since the original production 45 years ago!

Auditions will be held on 1/18 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm and 1/19 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at the Trinity on Main Performance Center at 69 Main St. New Britain, CT. Additional auditions and callbacks will be held on 1/20 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm.

The production will take place this May 22nd – June 7th with Friday and Saturday shows at 8:00pm and Sunday shows at 3:00pm at Trinity on Main.

Jesus Christ Superstar includes music from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s 1970 Rock Opera. Tim Rice wrote the lyrics as well as the book. “Jesus Christ Superstar” first appeared on Broadway in 1971. The musical is loosely based on the Gospels’s accounts of the last week of Jesus’s life, beginning with the preparation for the arrival of Jesus and his disciples in Jerusalem and ending with the crucifixion.

Fashion Riot Dallas is partnering with Promise House for our launch fashion show titled Change It Up. Change It Up will feature local designers and artists from all over the Dallas/Fort Worth area. We are looking for models to walk in our show and assist us in raising awareness about homeless teens in Dallas! Casting details listed below:

This casting call is an open casting call meaning that it is open to both non-represented and agency represented models. Male and female models are invited to attend and participate. Currently, there are no restrictions on backgrounds, size, etc. Pay rates do vary depending on the model’s runway experience level.

Models MUST:

Be between the ages of 18-29 years old
Be able to physically attend the casting on the 24th
Be able to walk in high heels
Wear form fitting clothing
Come in with your hair down
Remove ALL makeup prior to casting

What to Expect:

At Fashion Riot Dallas, we strive to make sure that we find a good fit by hand selecting our models. Models will NOT be grouped together unless required. Specific details and directions will be provided within 4 weeks, 2 weeks, and 48 hours before the casting call.

All models will arrive to the location between the scheduled times. Fashion Riot Dallas’ Creative Director will introduce themselves before getting started.
Models will demonstrate their runway walk.
Models will then be asked a few questions in order to get to know you better.
Selected models will receive an agreement with more information to take home. Models will then return paperwork within the next few days to secure their spot in the show.
