Casting Trekkies to play Klingons with George Takei | DC

Attention all DC area Trekkies! Now casting Klingon wannabes who live in the D.C. area. An evening of Shakespeare in Klingon is holding an open casting call for Klingon and Shakespeare extras.

By Any Other Name: An Evening of Shakespeare in Klingon.

The casting call is set for 9/18 with the performance, by the Washington Shakespeare Company, on September 25.

“We’re looking for a handful of extras and are respectfully asking all interested aliens (and others) to get in costume and come to DuPont Circle on Saturday, September 8, 2010 from 4-6 P.M. We intend to select two to four extras,” says the WSC press release.

Come join this fun event… and get your fill of both Klingon and Shakespeare! Also, Extras get a chance to meet George Takei at the event’s after party…. Come party with Mr. Sulu and wear your Klingon best.

Being selected as an extra includes more than appearing in the program. “Those cast as extras will appear in our program By Any Other Name: An Evening of Shakespeare in Klingon and receive complimentary passes to our post-performance VIP after-party with special guest and legendary actor George Takei (Mr. Sulu), Marc Okrand (creator of the Klingon language), and Christopher Henley (WSC Artistic Director).

“Mr. Henley will select and cast all Klingon extras. Winners will be announced at 6 p.m., Saturday, September 18th in DuPont Circle. We encourage those auditioning to dress in appropriate Klingon costumes.
