WHO WE ARE:
The LA-LAs Ladies Choir is now auditioning dynamic women ages 21-35 for a select, young, talented and sexy vocal performance ensemble, placing special emphasis on creating and performing innovative and edgy arrangements of contemporary pop, rock music and lyrical ballads. We aim to perfect our music, perform concerts with great artistry, gain a renowned reputation, book and perform at live events, record albums and eventually tour. We have a show coming up in October as well as holiday gigs to help raise funds to begin recording our first group album!
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
The LA-LAs is comprised of 20-25 women, ranging from soprano to bass and vocal percussion, so the quality of each voice is equally important.
Qualified applicants must have the following:
– Strong vocal skill and intonation
– Serious choral experience
– Trained ear for harmonization and ability to blend
– Basic sight reading capability
– Ability to memorize challenging pieces
– Above all the enthusiasm and a deep passion to sing, rehearse and perform!
AUDITIONS:
Auditions will be held Saturday, August 20 from 11am-2pm at Dance Studio No. 1 in Studio D located at 12121 W Pico Blvd # 2C, Los Angeles. Please email us at thelalaladies@gmail.com with your preferred audition time slot: 11:00-11:30, 11:30-12:00, 12:00-12:30, 12:30-1:00, 1:00-1:30, 1:30-2:00. If you are not available on 8/20, please let us know and we may be able to accommodate your audition on a Wednesday evening as an alternative. Also, we may consider a video submission – please email us for more information.
Bring headshot or current photograph & résumé if possible. Prepare one contemporary pop song and one contemporary ballad to be sung a cappella only – no sheet or instrumental music please. No song should exceed two and one-half minutes. Be prepared for tests on vocal pitch.
REHEARSALS:
Rehearsals take place on Wednesday evenings at a West LA music studio from 7:30pm-10:30pm. Kindly refrain from auditioning if you are not available to rehearse on Wednesday nights.
