Come Back, Little Sheba

SYNOPSIS:
This play is based on a deadly parallel. It has to do with a chiropractor who had to quit medical school and marry a female student who attends a local college. The constant realization of what he might have been rankles to the extent of driving him into occasional binges and the arms of Alcoholic Anonymous.
To make ends meet, his frowsy but loving wife takes in a boarder, a girl student who attends a midwestern college. When the husband sees her playing fast and loose with a dumb athlete, forgetting a trustful fiance, he takes to the bottle again. But, the twist is that the girl, after her fling, marries the right man — her fiance.
So, the chiropractor, after a stint in the alcoholic ward of a hospital, comes repentantly back home to resume his hapless life with the only thing he has left to turn to – the ineffectual wife who had knocked all the ambition out of him. The wife has been living in the past, who has been calling out to Little Sheba, a lost puppy, finally decides to begin living in the present and future.

Marie Buckholder (A boarder) early 20’s, pretty
Ed Anderson (An AA guide) 40 – 50 years old
Bruce Cunningham (Marie’s boyfriend) early 20’s, responsible/polite/clean-cut
Elmo Huston (An AA representative) any age
Postman any age
