Chicago Theater Auditions

WRENS by Anne McGravie and directed by Karen Kessler. Auditions are by appointment only, and will take place on Saturday July 7 from 11am-3pm and Sunday July 8 from 10am-2pm. Callbacks will be Friday July 13 from 4-8pm.


Rivendell Theatre Ensemble rehearsal studio 5775 North Ridge, Chicago, IL (between Clark and Glenwood, enter through the back gate off Glenwood).




WRENS explores the relationships between seven young English,Welsh, Irish and Scottish women who served in the Women’s Royal Navy Service(WRNS) during World War II. On the eve of VE Day, seven women sharing a barrackfight inner conflicts centering on emotional growth, loss of innocence andbiting questions about their responsibility toward others.

We are currently seeking actors for the following roles:

Jenny– Late 20’s, early 30’s (Welsh)
Doris- 20’s to early 30’s (English, Middle class, well educated)
Cynthia- 20’s to early 30’s (English, Upper class)
Meg– 17 years old (Scottish)
Dawn– 19 years old (English, Middle or working class)

Time Commitment:

Rehearsals begin the week of July 30, 2012. As per our AEA contract, there will be two consecutive days off (25 hours per week).

There will be afternoon rehearsals during tech and previews that you must be available for.(August 31st- September 8th)

Opening is Sunday September 9th at 6:00PM at the new Rivendell Theatre in Chicago. Regular performances Thursdays and Fridays at 8:00PM; Saturdays at 3:00 and 8:00PM through October 14, 2012

Please prepare one side of your preference for the character you are most interested in. Use the appropriate dialect if possible.
