Synopsis
Birth of Soul is a history lesson and love story rolled into one. It
takes onlookers on a journey tracing the genealogy of soul music
sharing with the audience the origins, breadth, depth and influence
of soul music. Through a series of flashbacks, the audience is
surrounded by tunes from Mahalia Jackson, Nat King Cole, Etta James,
Billie Holiday and Fats Domino to modern day.
Available Roles:
School Principal – Ms. Witsum (35-55)
Witty, Energetic, Nutty personality, fun-loving, clumsy narrates the majority of the story and scenes with the classroom, she falls in love with Mr. Crisp. Comedic timing is a MUST, acting is more important. She doesn’t necessarily need to be strong vocally, she sings but it is meant to be in a parody like fashion.
Teacher – Mrs. Strickland (35-65)
As the name implies she is the opposite of Ms. Witsum, she is NO NONSENSE, to the book school teach who is impatient and really all about getting down to business. She doubles as a singer in several of the scenes in the flashback sequences in the city scene.
Janitor – Mr. Crisp (45-60)
Shy and slick, he is the janitor of the school who always conveniently appears to get a glimpse at Ms. Witsum. He is also the person who always has a story to tell about how things ‘used to be’. Acting is most important, singing is a plus but not necessary.

All Female and Male Leads are in group and solo numbers according to voice type music ranges from negro spirituals to jazz, to 50’s do wop and 60’s to 70’s Disco and Soul to modern day. Strong voices, ability to harmonize, great personalities and stage presence and good movement are all a must.

Summary
Jenny is a nurse in a hospital who is trying her best not to let her personal feelings merge with her taxing job. She encounters a ten year old boy by the name of Kevin who is terminally ill but is convinced, nonetheless, that he is going home. Unable to take Kevin’s enthusiasm to heart, Jenny distances herself from the one person who needs her the most.

Character description
Kevin:
A boy admitted into the hospital who is on the end of his rope. He’s clearly declining after spending a year in treatment in the hospital. Prior to being admitted, Kevin spent his years at an orphanage. He’s alone and scared but still tries to keep a positive attitude through it all.

Jenny:
A nurse in her mid twenties who refuses to let the emotional instability of her job interfere with her personal life. She is a good person but is hesitant in allowing people to get close to her for fear that she’ll end up emotionally attached.

Brandon:
A coworker of Jenny’s who is also a nurse. He is genuine and tries to be as comforting as he can towards Jenny.

It is to be housed in a very spacious venue (Whirled Art Studios) with refreshments including drinks. It starts at 10.00am with the doors opening at 9.30am and continues until 5.30pm on both days.

The course itself is a two day course situated in a cinematic studio space called Whirled Art Studios in which we have just held a Private Screening at and have housed our courses previously. We have had a wonderful time enjoying the courses and are going to be expanding globally, so we will not be in the UK for a while. Therefore, we thought we should have a special ‘Advanced Actors Toolbox Masterclass’ which covers all of what we do in our normal ‘toolbox’ workshops with much more thrown in !

Si will cover how you can nail that audition and casting and past students have gone on to appear in TV, Film, secured international agents, publicists and even top drama schools through his training. He is always in touch with his students past and present and some have secured roles in his films as well as securing other opportunities from writing scripts to singing in world class stages. So, we really work to get you noticed !

The course will be held by Si Wall for the entire two days with a seminar on the last day with myself, Nicola Beckinsale at the end who also represents actors and actresses for their PR and she will be giving complimentary advice on how to market and package yourself to be seen by the top Casting Directors and Producers involved in the film and TV industry. You will have the chance to perform with optional audition and optional filming for your showreel for no extra charge.

X-Men: Days of Future Past Extras Casting – Montreal

The new X-Men movie, X-Men Days of Future Past will begin filming shortly in the spring and summer of 2013 in Montreal.

The new X-Men movie is set 10 years following the last X-men flick, X-men first class.

C.R.H. – The film will be set in the 1970’s so they are seeking people with that 70’s look.

Casting teen extras 12 to 16 years old of all ethnicities as well as adults up to 70 years of age.

Especially looking for 70’s looks such as sideburns, beards, mustaches.
