Bus Stop Stories

An Interactive Reader’s Street Theater Performance

From Director: “I am working on BusStopStories, a series of flash stories about people who take Houston’s Metro in, out, or through the Acres Homes Community. Snap shots of moments on the edge of human brushing up against human. Prompted by my return to bus riding I began to write while riding. This led to the discovery that the first incorporated African-American owned bus company in the United States was born in my neighborhood; the Acres Homes Transit Company (http://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/online/articles/dgama).

Ideally, BusStopStories work best when read aloud on city streets, bus environments, and public spaces. Here, myself and other actors become Story Tranzits and perform the stories. Folks who stop to hear BusStopStories are given a sticker that reads i am a story in tranzit©.
