Auditions: March 23 at 3-5:30 pm, March 24 at 5:30-8 pm, or by appointment. Callback on March 26, 6-9 pm..
Performances: June 7-30, Friday & Saturdays at 8 pm, Sundays at 3 pm.
Community Actors Theatre 31st season will open with a with a fast-paced, multi-cultural, small-cast production of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew. Lines, scenes, and characters who drop in from other Shakespeare plays, dancing, singing, a telenovela-inspired scene in Spanish, and other surprises add to the fun.
We will be casting four men and two women to play multiple roles (except Katherina).
Lucentio/Lord. Male. Suitor to Bianca. 20s.
Bianca/Lady. Female. Late teens to mid-20s.
Petruchi/Player. Male. 20s to 30s. Suitor to Katherina.
Grumio/Tailor/Servant. Male. Servant to Petruchio. 30s +
Baptista/Chorus/Porter Male. Father of Bianca and Katherina. 40s+
Katherina. Female. 20’s-30s. The “shrew” of the title.
Ability to sing, dance, play a musical instrument(s), and speak Spanish a plus. Please bring a resume and headshot, if available. Readings will be from the script. Also prepare a song (a capella or self-accompanied), a short dance sequence, and/or instrumental musical selection if you have any of those skills.
