Auditions for Fiddler on the Roof – Ages 18 – 28
Mainstage Production of UD Summer Stage!

Philadelphia’s renowned summer theatre program, Upper Darby Summer Stage, is seeking actors ages 18-28 for summer Mainstage production of Fiddler on the Roof.

Based on the stories of Sholem Aleichem, Fiddler on the Roof has captured the hearts of people all over the world with its humor, warmth and honesty. The universal theme of tradition cuts across barriers of race, class, nationality and religion.

Fiddler is filled with a rousing, heartwarming score, including Tradition, Matchmaker, Matchmaker, If I Were A Rich Man and Sunrise, Sunset. No other musical has so magically woven music, dance, poignancy and laughter into such an electrifying and unforgettable experience.

Auditions are June 10 with callbacks on June 11
Rehearsals begin June 12 and run Monday thru Thursday evenings, 7 pm to 10:30 pm. There will be one or two Saturday afternoon rehearsals and 1 Sunday.

Performances are August 2, 3, 9 & 10.

Song Selection: Fiddler is a traditional musical. Please prepare 16-32 bars of a traditional Broadway song written before 1968. You may also sing a selection from Fiddler if you wish.

Dance Component: There will be a dance portion to the audition so please come prepared with clothes, water, etc.

NOTE ON FACIAL HAIR: All male characters in this show will have facial hair with few exceptions. If you have the opportunity to start growing a beard before the summer…do so! If you can’t grow a beard, don’t worry about it. We got ya covered (literally).
