Seeking Male Actors for A Soldier’s Play, written by Charles Fuller

NightinGayle Casting is currently seeking actors for DA’Right Entertainment’s production of the Pulitzer Prize winning drama, A Soldier’s Play, written by Charles Fuller and directed by Kathy Lindboe. Produced by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc. The production is scheduled for Late February in the Los Angeles area. All actors must be willing to work through an intense rehearsal schedule with a focused production team.

Auditions will be Saturday December 13 & 14, 2014 by appointment only at Santa Monica Playhouse. Please send pictures and resumes to ASPLA2015@gmail.com. $150 minimum stipend.

A Soldier's Play Los Angeles based actors

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN

Sgt. Vernon C. Waters – African American, 40’s-50’s
Well-built with light brown skin. He manages the baseball team and is disliked by his men.

Capt. Charles Taylor – White male, mid to late 30’s
He resents Davenport’s assignment and rank. Taylor wants Davenport taken off the murder investigation because he does not believe that a black man can accuse white men or solve the case.

Corporal Bernard Cobb – African American male, mid to late 20’s

Pvt. 1st Class Melvin Peterson – African American male, late 20’s, wears glasses
He is usually the one who is well put together.

Corporal Ellis – African American male, 30’s
Always “spit and polish”.

Pvt. Louis Henson – African American male, thin, late 20’s-early 30’s

Pvt. James Wilkie – African American male, early 40’s, career soldier

Pvt. Tony Smalls – African American male late 30’s
Career man. He resembles his name (smaller than the rest).

Capt. Richard Davenport – African American male 30’s – 40’s
Davenport is a military lawyer, assigned to investigate the murder of Waters.

Pvt. C.J. Memphis – African American male, young 20’s, handsome
He plays the guitar and the harmonica. Should also sing.

Lt. Byrd – White male late 20’s-30’s
He is a by-the-book military officer. He has a history of confrontation and conflict with black soldiers.

Capt. Wilcox – White male 30’s
