“Dirty Dancing” National Tour Open Auditions

By | February 26, 2014

The “Dirty Dancing” musical will be holding a casting call in NYC for the national tour. The production is seeking Equity singers and dancers. Auditions have been scheduled for March 6th for singers and the following day, the 7th for dancers.

Dirty Dancing” is based on the 1980’s film set in the  summer of 1963.  17-year-old Frances “Baby” Houseman (played by Jennifer Grey) is on a family vacation with her rich family. The family is at a resort in the Catskills for the summer. The resort is owned by the Kellerman’s and Baby’s father is their personal physician.

During her summer stay, Baby meets the resorts dance instructor Johnny who introduces her to an entire new side of the resort, the working class side. Baby finds out about the staffs after hours parties on the resort and becomes interested in their very sexy style of dance… or Dirty Dancing.

The film has since been adapted for stage and has had productions in multiple countries including Canada, Australia and the U.A.
