New Jake Gyllenhaal feature film “Southpaw” is casting 1000’s of paid movie extras in PA.

“Southpaw,” will be shooting this summer in Pittsburgh and Indiana, Pennsylvania. Like we have seen with other big budget films that need 1000’s of extras, the casting directors are coming into town before the production does to try to recruit the huge amount of background talent they will be needing. Casting directors for the film have setup an open casting call for anyone who is interested in having a small extra part in “Southpaw” for this coming weekend in Pittsburgh.
The movie will begin filming in June around the Indiana area and move to Pittsburgh in July. The movie will be filming in PA for most of the summer and will wrap in PA in August. The film is planning a large boxing scene and needs 1000’s of spectators to fill the seats. Extras cast for the movie will portray boxing spectators and there may be multiple work days for those chosen.
The film will be directed by Antoine Fuqua, who directed Denzel Washington in the film “Training Day,” which got Denzel Washington an Oscar. Antoine Fuqua also directed “Olympus Has Fallen” with Gerard Butler and “Brooklyn’s Finest”.
Open casting call for “Southpaw” information:
An open casting call will be held at the Monroeville Convention Centerl on Saturday, May 31 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
They are looking for men and women, ages 18 and older, of all backgrounds – Adults only please.
Not certain if they will be taking pictures on site so it may be a good idea to bring a snap shot with you, just in case they need it. Also, you want to be sure to have your ID with you in case they are filling out paperwork at the venue.
Originally, Eminim was set to star in “Southpaw“, but he was later replaced by Gyllenhaal. Forest Whitaker is also starring in the feature. The film is about a boxer who fights his way to the top, only to find his life falling apart around him.
Anyone interested in being cast as a movie extra for the project can come to the Indiana Mall this weekend to meet with the film’s casting directors and production staff.
