‘Weightless’ is a feature film which will shoot in New York or Pennsylvania in August 2014.   It will star Nick Nolte (’48 Hours’ ‘Cape Fear’) and Jason Clarke (‘Zero Dark Thirty’).

The film is about a father (Jason Clarke) whose quiet life gets thrown upside down when he answers a call to take care of his son Will, after Will’s mother has goes missing.

JASON CLARKE  has appeared in many films, including the Oscar-nominated Zero Dark Thirty, Death Race, Public Enemies, Rabbit-Proof Fence, Lawless, and Baz Luhrman’s The Great Gatsby. He can soon be seen opposite Gary Oldman in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and in the lead role in Terminator: Genesis.

NICK NOLTE has been nominated for three Academy Awards, twice for Best Actor, for Prince of Tides and Affliction, and once for Best Supporting Actor in Warrior. He is also known for his performances in 48 Hrs., Cape Fear, Lorenzo’s Oil, The Thin Red Line, and The Good Thief, among many many others.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

Canadian director JARON ALBERTIN has mastered storytelling, quickly making a name for himself with his powerfully rendered music videos. Born and raised in Vancouver, Albertin began his career in filmmaking as an established editor and effects artist before he broke onto the directing scene with innovative music videos for artists like Emily Haines, Death From Above 1979, Mew and Circlesquare. In 2003, Albertin took top honors at RESfest with his music video for ASCII Disko’s song, Strassen, featuring an 80’s-inspired montage of spandex and bright colors that proved to be simultaneously hilarious and smart.
The advertising world has seen equally unique commercials from Albertin. His technically ambitious and visually captivating work put him Boards’ Directors To Watch List in 2006 and he has since worked with an impressive array of brands such as Nike, Lee Jeans, Puma, Guitar Hero, Coca-Cola, Diesel and Dodge.

ABOUT THE WRITER

Called “one of the most dazzling wordsmiths of contemporary theatre” by The Guardian, ENDA WALSH’s plays have been widely produced and translated into more than 20 languages. Born in Dublin, Walsh was one of the first playwrights involved with the Corcadorca Theatre Company. The Corcadorca premiered several of his plays including Walsh’s break-through play Disco Pigs (1996), which went on to numerous productions, winning the Best Fringe Production Award and The Critics’ Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. His other plays includePenelope, as well as Bedbound, The Walworth Farce, The New Electric Ballroom,The Ginger Ale Boy,Sucking Dublin,Misterman,The Small Things,Pondlife Angels,Chatroom, and Delirium. He most recently wrote the book for Broadway’s Once The Musical which won 8 Tony Awards in 2012 including Best Book and Best Musical.
Since his initial success as a playwright, Walsh has gone on to write screenplays as well, including adaptation of his plays Disco Pigs and Chatroom. His 2008 biopic, Hunger, told the story of the final days of IRA hunger striker Bobby Sands and won a host of awards, including the Camera d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival and the Heartbeat Award at the Dinard International Film Festival. It was nominated for seven British Independent Film Awards (including Best Screenplay), six British Film and Television Awards (including Best Screenplay, and Best Independent Film) and BAFTA’s Outstanding British Film Award 2009.

ABOUT THE PRODUCERS

GREG SHAPIRO has produced multiple award-winning films including the The Hurt Locker(directed by Kathryn Bigelow) which won six Academy Awards including Best Picture.He most recently produced Kathryn Bigelow’s follow-up, Zero Dark Thirty, which was nominated for five Academy Awards including Best Picture. He holds an impressively eclectic career producing films such as The Conspirator (directed by Robert Redford), Detachment (directed by Tony Kaye), The Rules of Attraction(directed by Roger Avary), The Harold & Kumar franchise, and The Rum Diary starring Johnny Depp and Aaron Eckhart.
He most recently produced Kathryn Bigelow’s follow-up to The Hurt Locker, Zero Dark Thirty, which was nominated for Best Picture at the 2013 Academy Awards and James Gray’s The Immigrant, starring Marion Cotillard and Jeremy Renner, which premiered at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival.

PATRICK MILLING SMITH is the co-founder of international production company SMUGGLER. Once the renegade start- up, Smuggler is now an industry leader and creative powerhouse, winning every major award and accolade the advertising industry has to offer including the Cannes Lions Palme d’Or as well as the Cannes Lions Grand Prix, Tony, the Emmy, D&AD pencils, and Sundance, London, Berlin and Venice Film Festival Awards. He most recently produced the feature film Greetings From Tim Buckley starring Penn Badgley which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and the Broadway hit Once The Musical which won 8 Tony Awards in 2012 including Best Musical.

BRIAN CARMODY
Born in Skibbereen, Ireland, Brian Carmody came to LA in April of 1994 to work for Propaganda Films. He quickly became the Head of Sales for Propaganda’s sister company, Satellite, where he sourced and managed some of the world’s best and pioneering music video and commercial directors who have since gone on to become major players in the feature world. In 2001 Carmody joined forces with Patrick Milling Smith and together they founded Smuggler. They quickly gained a reputation for spotting young talent and building successful careers. Smuggler’s business model focuses around the philosophy that well-told stories in the hands of first class talent generate powerful audience connections. The company is widely recognized for superior productions and cutting-edge creativity.
