Power Ball

SYNOPSIS: In “Power Ball”, Rúben Valdez and his family are running out of time. In two weeks, the San Francisco natives will find themselves displaced and homeless. Some people trust facts, but Rúben believes in chance. Will one shred of hope keep them in their home? Or will the unlikely event seal their fate?

CHARACTER BIOS:
(LEAD) RÚBEN – YOUNG MAN – AGE: 18-23 – LATINO
Rúben Valdez is arrogant, cocky, and in charge. He does however hold a soft spot for his family. Rúben’s ego won’t let the rapid gentrification in his neighborhood tear down his pride.
(SUPPORTING) STEPHANIE – YOUNG GIRL – AGE: Flexible (early teen) – LATINA
Stephanie Valdez is soft spoken and gullible. She looks up to her brother Rúben, and is increasingly becoming rebellious with her mother. Stephanie spends many hours browsing the internet or zoning out with her iPod.
(SUPPORTING) GLORIA – MIDDLE AGED WOMAN – AGE: 30+ – LATINA
Gloria Valdez is a strict mother who’s losing her edge. She’s worn out from the stresses of life, and recent loss of her abusive husband. She has to muster up enough strength and authority with her kids to survive the eviction.
(SUPPORTING) BUD WOLFE – MIDDLE AGED MAN – AGE: 30+ – ANY ETHNICITY
Bud Wolfe is a loud, grumpy alcoholic who constantly professes his disdain for the world. He’s also an old drinking buddy of Rúben’s deceased father.
COMPENSATION: As broke students, this project is low/no budget.
However, there are some perks to joining us!
