AMC’s ‘TURN: WASHINGTON’S SPIES‘ Casting Call for speaking Roles

The AMC Revolutionary war series is filming the new season in the Central Virginia area. The show’s casting directors at Arvold Casting is seeking actors who look like they may fit into the Revolutionary War period for speaking roles. Auditions will be held in the Richmond area this coming week between the 3rd and 5th of the month with shoot dates scheduled for between the 12th and 21st.

Turn” is a period drama set during the Revolutionary war. TURN is based on the book Washington’s Spies which was written by Alexander Rose.  During the turbulent time that marked the beginning of the United States,  a group of young people banded together to form a spy ring that may help turn the tides.  TURN: Washington’s Spies focuses on a young farmer, Abe Woodhull (Jamie Bell). Abe and his family live in an area that is occupied by the British whose soldiers are not particularly nice to the residents. Abe and his friends form an unlikely spy ring, the Culper Ring in an effort to help George Washington win the war.

Shoot Dates: 11/12/14 – 11/21/14
Location: Richmond, VA

NOTE: Actors must be available for their fittings in Richmond, VA no less than 24 hours prior to their first scheduled work date. Preferably where possible 48 hours before.

AMC turn casting call for speaking roles on the show

All principal (speaking) roles are either local hires (within 60 miles of Richmond, VA) or modified local hires (within 500 miles of Richmond, VA).

Seeking the following speaking roles for episode 205:

[BILLY LEE] Male, late 20s, African American. General George Washington’s stocky, powerfully built personal valet. Has been Washington’s right hand man for 10 years and can manhandle a horse as well as Washington. A Virginia-born slave, his accent should have a period southern flavor. [CO-STAR, RECURRING]

[SUTHERLAND] Male, 30s, Caucasian. Handsome, confident Irishman with a mellifluous voice. Polished and suave, he tries to pass as a second class citizen. Authentic Irish accent required. [CO-STAR, RECURRING]

[LIFE GUARD] Male, 20s – 30s, Caucasian. Guard for the Continental army. His accent should have a British flavor to it, somewhere between an English and an American accent, reminding us that the colonies were still very tied to England and that these families had only been here for a few generations. [CO-STAR]

[SOLDIER] Male, 20s, Caucasian. A soldier in the Continental army with important news. His accent should have a British flavor to it, somewhere between an English and an American accent, reminding us that the colonies were still very tied to England and that these families had only been here for a few generations. [CO-STAR]

[SHANKS] Male, 20s-40s, Caucasian. A nervous, unkempt civilian with an important message for the Continental army. Sympathetic with an odd demeanor. His accent should have a British flavor to it, somewhere between an English and an American accent, reminding us that the colonies were still very tied to England and that these families had only been here for a few generations. [CO-STAR, POSSIBLE RECURRING]

[HOMELESS MAN] Male, 30s-50s, Caucasian. Character faces welcome. A drunk man in the streets of New York. His accent should have a British flavor to it, somewhere between an English and an American accent, reminding us that the colonies were still very tied to England and that these families had only been here for a few generations. [CO-STAR]

[REDCOAT] Male, 20s-30s, Caucasian. A British soldier in the streets of New York. Authentic British accent required. PHYSICAL AGILITY A PLUS. [CO-STAR]

[OFFICER YATES] Male, 40s-early 50s, Caucasian. A confident officer (warden-like) who conducts an interrogation. His accent should have a heavier British flavor to it, but remain somewhere between an English and an American accent. [CO-STAR, RECURRING]
