NOLA casting call for the SyFy Network series “The Magicians“
The new show is about to begin production and is seeking submissions from New Orleans area talent who would like to be considered for small roles. Currently this week, Central is looking for hip & trendy extras in their 20’s and 30’s for scenes filming Thursday and Friday of this week.
Syfy has placed a TV Pilot order for a new sci-fi / fantasy series which is an adaptation of Lev Grossman’s novels. The show will be an hour long and produced by Universal Cable Productions which also produces the shows “Dominian“, “Warehouse 13” and “defiance” for the SyFy Network. The pilot for “The Magicians” is written by John McNamara (Prime Suspect) and Sera Gamble (Supernatural). According to THR, Another Earth’s Mike Cahill will be directing “The Magicians“.
Lev Grossman’s book is actually a trilogy, The Magicians, The Magician King, and The Magician’s Land. The story is about a group of young adults who get involved with the study of magic and come to discover that the fantasy world may be all too real. In an interview some months back, Syfy president Dave Howe said, “Lev Grossman’s dazzling blend of magic and realism will capture the imagination of a new generation of viewers and further strengthen Syfy’s ownership of premium quality sci-fi fantasy drama.”

I live in Houston, TX, but there is no problem to go to New Orleans, I actually do study the art of magic and act, so I would be a great match for a part in this show.
