Call for Performers
Artists Laura Cooper and Ian Giles are looking for performers / participants for there next collaborative live performance piece that will be presented at on April 9th 2015 in the Garis and Hahn Gallery, Bowery NY. The piece is an development of the artist’s public performance piece, ‘Work From The Inside Out’ (http://www.lauracooper.co.uk/index.php/project/work-from-the-inside-out/) that was presented at the Artlicks Festival in London 2013.
The new piece will be developed specifically to move between the inside and outside of the gallery space. It will involve several performers, all who will be listening to headphones and interpreting instructions heard.
The piece is subtle and requires sensitive performers with naturalistic movement and confidence with improvisation and performing in public space, with no barriers between the audience and the performance.
The performance hovers between going unnoticed, it appears and disappears in to the social situation of a gallery opening, gently subverting social dynamics in the space.
Applicants must have had experience performing with movement and in relational art pieces previously. Performers must be able to attend a audition 30th March and a rehearsal 4th March (times TBC) and the performance night on the 9th April from 6-9pm.
