Chicago, IL Theater – Male Actors for “One Thousand Words”

One Thousand Words

Location: Chicago, IL

Type: Theater

Casting “One Thousand Words” an original LGBT-themed musical for the Chicago Musical Theatre Festival this summer. Writer states: “Richard Hanks knows that writing a thousand words about two men who were in love in the 1940’s will help promote himself at the Blue Advocate, but what he doesn’t realize is how much hearing the story of one of the men will change his perspective on equality. The audience follows Richard’s journey, and in doing so, get a glimpse at a love story that must struggle against a quickly changing, unacceptable culture.

Set to a contemporary score complete with rock, jazz, and ballads, ‘One Thousand Words’ flashes back between Richard in the 1990’s to Daniel and Warren’s relationship in the 1940’s. Set against the backdrop of The Great Depression and World War II, Warren and Daniel must face a world set against them, leaving audiences to examine what has changed in the years since their struggle. Ultimately paralleling that of a typical young relationship of the time, the audience leaves the show comparing their relationship to Warren and Daniel’s and begs them to question if there really is any difference in who you love.”
