Shades of Poe

Fractured Mirror Productions is casting for our 2015 production of “Shades of Poe”.
Seeking men and women to perform dramatic presentations of six of Poe’s most famous works in an historic house. The show is unique because the audience moves throughout the house to see the stories, while the actors remain stationary.
The works presented are complete, with minor trimming for time. The monologues range from 6-12 minutes in length. To understand the presentation style, we recommend you refer to YouTube videos of Vincent Price performing “The Tell Tale Heart” or “The Raven”.
Show dates:
Daytime school shows: October 14 & 21
Evenings (7pm and 9pm) October 15-17, 22-24, and 29-31.
Potential added date: October 28, 7pm and 9pm.
Rehearsals:
One day per week, 7pm-10pm, starting in late August. Tech rehearsals are October 12th & 13th.
Independent memorization work will be required.
All rehearsals and performances are at the venue, the Collings-Knight Homestead, 500 Collings Ave, Collingswood, NJ 08107.
Accessible from public transit: Patco Collingswood station (20 minute walk), and NJ Transit 403 Bus (2 blocks). Plenty of street parking.
Roles Available:
Edgar Allan Poe- 20’s to 30’s. We are open to both younger Poes and the more “traditional” look. Poe will guide the audience through the house and introduces each piece.
“The Raven”- Male, 30’s-40’s
“The Tell Tale Heart”- Male or Female, 20’s-30’s
“The Imp of the Perverse”- Female 30’s-50’s
“Berenice”- Female, 20’s
“The Black Cat”- Male, 40’s-60’s
“Ligeia”- Male, 20’s-40’s
“The Cask of Amontillado”: Montresor- Male, 20’s-30’s; Fortunato: Male, 20’s-30’s
All roles paid/ stipend. Non-union.
Local, Philadelphia-area based actors only, please!
Audition Dates:
Sunday, August 16th 3pm-7pm at the venue: 500 Collings Ave, Collingswood, NJ 08107.
Monday, August 17th 3pm-7pm at Headlong Studios, 1170 S Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA. Accessible by Transit (Broad Street Line- Ellsworth/ Federal Stop), street parking extremely limited.
