Matthew McConaughey Civil War drama “Free State of Jones” is currently filming around the Clinton Louisiana area.
The film will be wrapping soon but there are still scenes to be shot and Caballero Casting is seeking male extras in the area who have not yet worked on the film to play confederate soldiers, Union soldiers and Newt’s men. The CD’s are seeking locals who are available to work between the 22nd and 27th of this month in Clinton Louisiana. Seeking Caucasian males between the ages of 18 and 40 ish who have a look that can pass as being from Civil war time. No modern haircuts, piercings, visible tattoos. Facial hair is a plus and men who have long hair would need to be willing to get a hair cut. Talent interested must apply ASAP as there is a wardrobe fitting that talent cast must attend tomorrow in Clinton.
“Free State of Jones” stars McConaughey as Newton Knight, a Civil War Confederate soldier, a deserter, who goes on to lead a fight against the Confederacy. Knight and a group of fellow deserters disagreed with the crippling taxation as well as other laws imposed on them including the the law that allowed rich slave owning, plantation owners to pass on joining the confederate army. The anti-confederate rebellion came to be known as the Free State of Jones. On October 13, 1863, a band of deserters from Jones County and adjacent counties organized to protect the area from Confederate authorities and the crippling tax collections.They led raids and captured food and supplies collected as tax and distributed the goods and food back to the population. In July 1864, there were reports by news organizations that Jones County had seceded from the Confederacy.
