Portland Oregon—The Portland Youth Rock Orchestra will begin holding auditions for its 2015-2016 season starting Sept. 8th at various locations in and around Portland. Electric guitarists, drummers, bassists and all traditional orchestral musicians including percussion, brass, strings, and woodwinds ages 7-23 are encouraged to audition.
The Portland Youth Rock Orchestra will give students from all over the metropolitan area focused musical training and exposure to the greatest of rock and orchestral literature. The rehearsals will be framed within a fun and energetic environment with numerous opportunities to work with professional musicians. The Portland Youth Rock Orchestra will present multiple concerts a year crossing musical boundaries between traditional classical music and contemporary rock genres.
We are having auditions up until October 13th and beginning rehearsals October 20th in the West Sylvan Area. We have orchestrations that are unique to each group, furnished by a film scorer with IMDB credits who has conducted in studios all over the Pacific Northwest.
