Cast call out for FOX’s upcoming TV show, “The Exorcist”

The 1970s horror classic, The Exorcist,  is finally in production of the first season. The first season of the horror series is filming in Chicago and there is a new casting call out for Chicago area locals.

It’s been over 4 decades since “The Exorcist” was released and now FOX is bringing the story back as a TV show. The project has been in the works for quite some time and a trailer was released back in May. The pilot filmed a few months back and the first season is now in production.  Chicago’s 4 Star Casting has a casting call out for locals who would like to work as paid background actors. The show needs a variety of types to fill various non speaking roles.

According to FOX, “The Exorcist” television series is a modern re-telling of the story. The new show is based on William Peter Blatty’s 1971 novel, The Exorcist.  The network describes the show as “a propulsive, serialized psychological thriller following two very different men tackling one family’s case of horrifying demonic possession, and confronting the face of true evil.

The Exorcist casting call

The show focuses on 2 very different priests. FATHER MARCUS BRENNAN, played by Ben Daniels (“Flesh and Bone,” “House of Cards”) and FATHER TOMAS ORTEGA, played by Alfonso Herrera (“Sense8,” “The Chosen”). Father Ortega is the priest at a small Catholic parish in a Chicago suburb where life is quite, nothing out of the ordinary happens much. On the other side of the world, Father Brennen lives anything but a quiet life and actively fights evil day to day. Father Brennen is a modern-day Templar Knight, raised in the Vatican and on a sacred mission to fight evil wherever he may find it. The show begins when the two priets are set on a collision course after one of Father Ortega’s parishiners begins to feel that a demon may be residing in her household. Geena Davis plays Angela, a woman who turns to Father Ortega for help after her husband starts to slowly lose his mind, her daughter Katherine, played by Scream Queen Brianne Howey, refuses to leave her room, and her recurring nightmares convince her that a demonic presence may have taken over.

“The Exorcist”  is set to premiere on September 23rd.
