WGN’s series “The Outsiders” is back for season 2 and now in production.
The show is filming in the Pittsburgh PA area and has a casting call out for local talent who would love to be cast in a small non-speaking role in “The Outsiders” season 2. Casting directors in Pittsburgh are seeking paid TV show extras to play Shay Mountain folk, Small town Kentucky folks, Cops, Company Employees, Construction Workers, Secretary Types, Teachers/School Kids, Parents, Civilians, Bar Patrons and more. The show needs people of all ethnicities and ages and are especially interested in people who can pull off Ferrell clan / mountain men looks. Casting directors for the show have an open casting call coming up.
Filming will begin in a month, but casting calls have already gone out so talent interested has a chance to grow out their hair, beards, etc. Please see below for all the details and instructions on how to submit for the roles. Please note that these are extra roles for a TV series that is filming in the Pittsburgh area and they are only considering folks that are local to Pittsburgh as no travel expenses are being paid.
“The Outsiders” is about the Farrells, a family that have lived by their own laws and traditions in rural Kentucky for more than 200 years. The family lives on very rural Shay Mountain and completely off the grid and away from modern society. But their peace is now being threatened and people are trying to take their land. The family members have vowed to defend their homes in the Appalachian mountains and a battle is headed their way.
“Outsiders” is created and written by award-winning playwright Peter Mattei. The Sony Pictures TV series is being executive produced by Mattei, Peter Tolan, Michael Wimer and Paul Giamatti. Sony Pictures TV and Tribune Studios.

We will be looking for the following types of people:
Children ages 3-12, teens, adults, and senior citizens! Extras will portray locals of a town, families in the mountains (*men with long hair and/or beards, women & kids with long hair*), bar patrons, farmers, hospital staff, prisoners, cops, executive types and other fictional characters!

This shows setting takes place in Kentucky in 2 places.
Shay Mountain, where the Farrell Clan lives, and Blackburg, the town below the mountain.
We are looking for the following types of people:
Male and Female, all ages and all ethnicities!
SHAY MOUNTAIN FOLK:
(You will need to come off very natural like you are living off of the land, not visiting barbers for hair cuts, not wearing makeup, not visiting the nail salon)
Men with long hair and/or beards
Men with significant facial hair (We are still over a month away from filming so you have time to start growing out your hair and your facial hair)
Women long hair, no sharp/edgy hair cuts/ no highlights, must look natural so try to choose one natural hair color (basic blondes, brunettes, black,reds)
Kids: No braces, longer hair
TOWNSFOLK:
